UPSC CSE Prelims 2026 Civil Services Examination (CSE) Prelims 2026: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) releases important updates The number of candidates who have opted for their examination centres for the May 24 examination has increased to over 23,000. “The number of candidates is increasing. To ensure smooth conduct of the exam, the UPSC has added new exam centres in several states,” said an official. This is a strategic move to ease travel burden and congestion and provide better accessibility to the candidates. Officials have also been asked to strictly follow exam protocols, covid protocols, reporting time and verification of documents. Candidates are advised to check the admit card thoroughly and verify the centres they have chosen and understand the process of the day of the exam so that they don’t face any last minute hassles.

New Examination Centres and Accessibility

UPSC has added new centres in important locations to help the candidates reach the exam and have a hassle-free experience. The new centres are strategically located to accommodate large number of candidates and to reduce the hassles of commuting.

New centres will be opened in urban and semi-urban areas to spread the load evenly.

Facilities are more accessible for candidates with special needs;

Improved access to transport links.

Local authorities deployed to ensure smooth entry and exit.

Digital boards and helpline numbers in the Centres

Candidate Participation and Selection

Over 23,000 candidates have chosen their preferred centres ahead of May 24. Locations are chosen by their whereabouts, ease of access for the candidate, and their capacity.

Preference means nearer to centres for the candidates on the basis of allotment.

Where demand is high, seating is limited to avoid overcrowding.

Candidates may visit the official portal of UPSC for details.

New centres have priority places for first timers.

Continued email and SMS alerts to candidates.

Exam Day Instructions

UPSC gave clear instructions for smooth examination day. Candidates should adhere to all the above instructions.

Entry requires admit card & valid photo ID.

No late entry, strict reporting times enforced.

No electronic devices or other unauthorised items inside.

COVID 19 protocols for mask and hand sanitising.

Please respect the silence and the seating.

Security Measures at Centres

Every examination hall will be equipped with CCTV.

Gates will be checked thoroughly and bags searched.
